Busy baby

t has been a busy and exciting month. We went fruit picking several times with the Glari, swam in the baby pool, but the most exciting part of August was our trip to Maine.

The car ride up was long, but Ada was a trooper, only crying in CT, and really wouldn’t you? She played with her cousin Tatum, swam in the lake, rode in the boat and splashed in the water table. We went to Freeport and Portland for the day. We shopped and hung out with Simon and Kara. The ride home was amazingly short, and she slept the entire time.

Awake

It is 3:35 AM, and I have been up with the baby for 2 hours. The sleep thing is sporadic for us. Last night she slept 9 hrs. I need to implement a routine soon. I was hoping one would come naturally, but alas it has not.

Since I am awake I will use the time to catch up.

Ada likes the way her blocks taste. Her mama and dad enjoy playing with them.

“YOU have a baby, in a bar”, Damn Reese Witherspoon.

Yes, we have a baby, in a bar. I promise we are not bad parents, we both are just very social, we crave conversation with other people. It is a choice we make for our family, and it works for us.

Ada has always been on her best behavior when we go out. She enjoys watching and talking to people, and when she is tired she sleeps.

Yesterday, Ada and I took the circulator, up to the main branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library. The children’s room is beautiful. Ada really liked the pond, and the books.

Ada is now asleep. I am going to finish my tea. Enjoy the silence of the pre-dawn night and then go to sleep.

Movement

For about a month Ada has been sitting. Recently she has gotten much better at it. I enjoy sitting her down, giving her toys, and knowing that she will stay put and play. Ha Ha Ha, not for long. She can now get from sitting on her bottom to laying on her front. She has also learned how to slide backward, so mobility is in our future, and it is close.

I love wearing my girl

Years ago someone on a music discussion board posted a link to http://www.thebabywearer.com/ I book marked it because I knew that someday it would be information I would need. As soon as I knew I was pregnant I registered for the site and began my research.

Judy bought us both slings, and when Ada was tiny we would wear her nestled against us.

The weather was against us, so in an effort to keep her warm, while we tromped over the many feet of snow, I started carrying her upright in a ring sling tucked under my coat.

Once she gained more head control we started using the Ergo.

My favorite way to carry her is in a woven wrap.

Seven months ago I went to bed feeling tired, anxious and a little sore. I thought I was close, but wasn’t going to say anything this time, in case nothing was happening.
Tonight my girl is asleep in my arms, looking both tiny and huge.
