We just got to welcome a new little girl into the world. She was born at 5:50 PM today after a few hours of madwoman-style pushing, and weighs 8 pounds 14 ounces. We are all very happy, as far as I can tell – the new kid doesn’t talk much. Now we just have to pick a name…

We have had visitors steadily for the past week. It has been great having one last visit with our parents before the baby comes.
My dad came down on his own and we went on several mini-adventures.
Today is the first day of my maternity leave that I have been alone. I am watching a bit of bad TV and then I will clean.

We have been amazingly lucky and spoiled in the past few months. Between our friends and our families, the entire baby’s room has been outfitted. Today, My dad drove down with the last of the presents.
I have spent the afternoon finding homes for all of the wonderful things. I now feel like we are completely ready for the new. person

On Sunday, I began what I thought was labor. The contractions came slowly at first, then closer and closer, until Monday at 5 when I thought for certain the birth of our new person was imminent. Then I ate dinner, and the contractions slowed back down. They have continued off and on at a slow pace since then. Our families are here. I am sheepish and waiting.

The person will come when it is ready. I am anxious, not to stop being pregnant because I love being pregnant, but anxious to met my person and find out who they are
